How did the “French” Germans, the “French” Luxembourgers experience the profound social and economic changes? How genuine or how much ordered was the enthusiasm for the mutual emperor Napoleon, especially during his visit to the cities of Trier and Luxembourg in the year 1804? Having cheered together – having suffered together: The knowledge of this historical context will certainly strengthen and enhance the bonds within the cross-border region between Germany, France and Luxembourg, as much as it will raise the awareness regarding European identity on the long term.
The exhibition “Under the Tricolore – Sous le drapeau tricolore” will be shown in the ‘Städtisches Museum Simeonstift’ from June 6, 2004 until October 31, 2004, and will subsequently be exhibited in the ‘Saarland Museum Saarbrücken’ from November 15, 2004 until December 15, 2004. The cities of Metz and Luxembourg, which are also participating in the city network QuattroPole, act as co-organizers of the exhibition. They have made an incredibly vast amount of exhibits available and – through their cooperation in the manual/handbook that will accompany the exhibition, they have contributed the newest results regarding research. |
